Ongoing support

On our longer course options, staff will explore welbeing practices in more depth over a number of weeks. Repeated involvement in course activities will reinforce learning, which emergency service personnel can take in to the workplace to help manage their mental wellbeing and improve resilience in challenging times.

Our courses provide a safe, non-judgmental space for staff learn in, alongside understanding Mind in Greater Manchester practitioners that have experience delivering wellbeing courses to groups across the region.

Mindfulness Courses

This course will introduce participants to a number of different mindfulness practices that can help increase psychological and emotional resilience and decrease stress. Many recent scientific studies show that mindfulness changes the brain in a positive way so we are better able to cope with the difficulties that life can bring and feel happier and more connected. Sessions run for 2 hours over 8 weeks.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

A confidential 1:1 service working with a qualified counsellor, using CBT and facilitated self-0help techniques to work on personal or work-related issues.

Computer-aided Cognitive Behavioural Courses

We offer a series of interactive self-help applications that are accessible via PCs, tablets or mobile phones. Based on the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), users can choose from three courses which focus on tackling the causes and symptoms of sleep difficulties, depression and low mood and anxiety/phobias.

One-to-one Counselling

A confidential service offering individuals face-to-face support with professionally qualified counsellors. Available to all emergency services staff; we offer counselling for a range of issues, whether personal or work-related.

Our expert staff deliver mental health advice and support to people across Greater Manchester every day, achieving positive results that enable people to manage and overcome their own personal mental health struggles.

Through our Blue Light Programme, we hope to work with staff and volunteers across Greater Manchester’s vital emergency services, to dispel stigma around mental health and to equip them with the tools needed to stay well at work and at home.
